Goodbye for Now

Well, I have just been at a loss these last few weeks to share inspiration to you preppy brides-to-be. Maybe my vacation/work trip to NYC will help clear my head a bit?!

I'll be gone until next Friday, but I'll try to post once I am in Manhattan. Cross your fingers that I get a good celebrity sighting this time around.

Oh - one small thing to share with y'all. My friend passed on this list of the best "ivy league" preppy baby names. Don't worry, I'm not pregnant. Since my family and friends read the blog - I repeat - I am NOT PREGNANT. Just thought it was cute and wanted to share.

Have a fabulous weekend everybody!!

Things I Love: Fall Music Mix

So, I'm up late burning some fall mix CDs from itunes (does anyone else do a new mix every month?). Anywho, I have some favorite new songs for the fall that I thought I would share:

Stay or Leave - Dave Matthews Band
Southern Girl - Amos Lee
In the Colors - Ben Harper
Three More Days - Ray Lamontagne
Silver Lining - Rilo Kiley
Wonderful World - James Morrison
Big Sky - Garrison Star
Follow Through - Hotel Lights

Look them up on itunes. I think you'll like them!

Inspiration Monday

Hey everybody, sorry for the hiatus last week, I just had no time to post. Atlanta was lots of fun, we got to eat at this restaurant and had a great time (and a gigantic martini). I'm leaving for New York City on Friday, so I decided just NOT to unpack my suitcase. I've also decided that while in the big apple, I will do my best to get a glimpse of the new Sex in the City Movie. I just get so happy when I see pictures of the gals back together on the gossip blogs.

Don't worry, I have a few inspirational wedding photography sites for you today. As always, I will insert a warning that these awesome weddings are sure to bring out a few tears. Keep...tissues...ready.

So check out these slideshows from Lynne Brubaker Photography. I especially like Kate & Alexander's wedding (and yes, I would love to have my first dance to Adam Levin - in person).

I also love this wedding from Patricia Lyons Photography. Preppy to the max.

And last, but not least, take a look at this new stationary line designed by Heather Ressian called Posh. The name says it all - her designs are just lovely, check them out. I also want to thank our fabulous photographers (Worthington Photography) for sending Heather's designs my way. If you're getting married in Richmond, you want to hire Worthington.

So happy inspirational Monday to you all!

The Preppy Lobster Themed Wedding

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I'm leaving for Hotlanta tomorrow until Friday. I can't wait to have some Varsity frosted orange drinks and meet up with a bunch of my super cute Wahoo DG sisters. Three are recently engaged, so we'll have lots to talk about.

For now, check out this awesome lobster themed wedding that Stacey Kane sent my way. Great ideas for all you New England brides. I'm loving the chalk board table numbers.

I'll try to post later on this week, but for now, good night everybody!

Things I Love

Since things are a little bit crazy, I thought I would post on a few of my new favorite things.

Here goes …

1. Lori McKenna. I am in love with Lori after finding some of her songs on iTunes. Check out the song (and sentiment) of Witness to Your Life. It certainly is a fantastic way to think of the commitment that goes into a marriage.

2. This DIY recycling center project. I have been trying to get the husband to get a little more excited about going green and I think an organized, color coded system is in order. (What can I say, he responds well to colors)
3. One of my preppy readers Kristin introduced me to the seersucker bridesmaids line of Kathlin Argiro. A lot of readers have asked about finding longer seersucker dresses and Kathlin allows you to pick the silhouette and offers a bunch of different seersucker pattern colors.

4. Old Navy Beige Wool Coat. I have the 2005 version of this coat and still wear it. For the price, maybe it is time for an upgrade? I also really like this red barn jacket (also have it in beige). Why am I so obsessed with coats?

So, what are your fall favorites?

Inspiration Monday

Hi everybody!

Just thought I would check in with y'all to let you know that I'm still here, just blogging with chubbier cheeks and a complete addiction to Sonic's orange cream slush. My mom (and lil sis) took good care of me this weekend and the husband did a great job preparing my hot chocolate ice cream sundae demands yesterday.

Hope everyone had less eventful weekends hopefully filled with a fair share of football, although I still can't believe it is September.

Without further ado, here are some inspiring photos from Mary Clair Crow who is based in Nashville, TN. Love, Love, Love her work and I think you will too.

Here's an awesome tablescape that uses beautiful black and white linens accented with hot pink and lime green flowers. So chic.

Also ran across this pic that I love. Have I professed my undying devotion to a black & white dance floor? Preppy and elegant at the same time.

And a bunch of my bride-to-be readers have asked about utilizing white flowers in their bouquet. Here's a beautiful example. I love these white peonies against the champagne satin.

Inspired? I hope so. I promise more fun tomorrow!

Off to get my teeth removed

Signing off until next week. My boss suggested a combination of vicodin and margaritas to get me through the weekend? Sounds like an interesting experiment ....

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

100,000 Page Views

Two posts in one day, I know, I know.

But, I had to share. I just surpassed my 100,000th page view. That's a lot of views, so I wanted to thank all you readers out there for tuning in. Little did I know that this blog would become something other than an outlet for my wedding planning frustration.

So here's a thanks to all you brides-to-be, you gals looking for your Mr. Big (or your Aidan, as I know many girls would rather be married to an Aidan), you mothers of the bride and groom and let me not forget my awesome family and hubby. I know he tunes in at least once a day! Love you all!!

Mrs. Preppy Wedding

Inspiration Monday - I mean Wednesday

Hey everybody -

Just wanted to check in and say, whew this week is nuts already. I am in the midst of planning trips to Atlanta and NYC this month and on Friday I am having my wisdom teeth removed. Yee Gods, I got my fingers crossed that it doesn't hurt too much. There may be an upside - instant liquid diet.

Anywho, in an attempt to find some more preppy wedidng inspiration for you, I found another fabulous photographer, Stacey Kane. She is based in Maine (so Sarah, since I know you read the blog now, you MUST book her when the time arrives) and she travels!

Just take a look at these slideshows and you'll see how a preppy wedding is done. And I dare you not to tear up.
